The Journal of the American Chemical Society (usually abbreviated as J. Am. Chem. Soc., or JACS), is a peer-reviewed scientific journal, published since 1879 by the American Chemical Society. The journal has absorbed two other publications in its history, the Journal of Analytical and Applied Chemistry in July 1893, and the American Chemical Journal in January 1914. A weekly publication, it publishes original research papers in all fields of chemistry. According to Institute for Scientific Information statistics, JACS is the journal with the most citations in this field.[1] The impact factor of the journal is 7.42 (2005).[1] The current Editor of the journal is Peter J. Stang of the University of Utah. He has been the Editor since 2002.
