Stringering

Stringering in swordsmanship is the clasping of opposing blade surfaces pressed together, used as a protective move to prevent thrusts.

In metallurgy and composite materials stringering refers to the amount of binding contact between powder particles or inclusions, especially in sintering.

Both words derive from Latin stringere, to bind or clasp, whence string and stringer.
