Heraeus launches cooperation with top-tier Chinese university

28 Sep 2007 - The precious metals and technology group Heraeus has signed a cooperation agreement with Northeastern University in Shenyang, China, which will enhance the group's potential for research and innovation in Asia. In September Dr. Frank Heinricht, Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding GmbH, and Prof. Liang Zuo, Vice-President of Northeastern University, were in Shenyang for the official launch of a program of cooperation on research and development, initially for a period of five years. Among the areas for cooperation are metallurgy, environmental protection, mining engineering, surface technology, control technology and biomedical technology.

The company's cooperative arrangements and partnerships with universities, institutes and research organizations in Europe have proven very successful. "We would like to continue this success in Asia, where Heraeus already has more than 2,600 employees - in China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan," noted Dr. Frank Heinricht as he described his company's first venture into cooperation with a top-level Chinese university. The technical university in northeastern China, which focuses on materials science, is one of the most distinguished universities in the country, with more than 30,000 students and over 1,000 professors.
