Life Science loves Limsophy

New possibilities for the information management in your lab

Additional information
Hall B2, Booth 230

Initial Position:
When your R&D-Department develops a new cell line, a virus, a plasmid, a biomarker, a formula, a plant attribute, a surface coating or anything else, you need a simple solution to document your activities. The same need for documentation exists also in the analytics department.

Desired State:
In a company which has an R&D as well as an analytics department, the R&D usually provides the analytics with a test instruction and waits for their test results. The next step in R&D often depends on the mentioned results. The ideal solution would be a systematic information management that allows storing the data from R&D and analytics in the same system.

Such a system would need to be capable of storing data in a structured form (from analytics) as well as in unstructured form as generated during development. As a researcher, I would also expect to find my analytics results in the according experiment report. Access to the information in the database would have to be possible via full-text search as well as through structured database queries. Ideal would be a combination with full-text search and database queries.

Current software types do not have the required characteristics. Analytics normally work with a LIMS, which can store data in highly structured form only. For the documentation of the R&D work, electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) are used. Those can store data in unstructured form only.

Exemplary working methods with Limsophy:
AAC Infotray AG has developed a new software type, which covers the needs from both R&D as well as from analytics. With the software Limsophy researchers keep record of their experiments which are carried out within a project. The researcher can arrange report-templates according to her/his individuel needs. Experiment reports can by typed directly with MS-word as text editor. Limsophy also supports the project manager with additional project management features. The analyst needs to document her/his results highly structured in order to do statistical interpretations. The software Limsophy provides appropriate LIMS-functionality for these tasks.

Limsophy's outstanding product features:

  • Highly efficient information management thanks to the access of data from R&D and analytics in the same system. A researcher can create a report of experiment which also includes the results of assigned samples at the push of a button.
  • Analyzing data from one system is becoming very easy and lets you answer entirely new questions.
  • Data from the analytics can be viewed instantly by the research team and research activities can be accessed from the analytics.
  • Costs for acquisition, interfaces and maintenance are significantly lower as using one instead of two individual systems (LIMS and ELN)

Especially Life Science companies with high expectations appreciate the innovative features of Limsophy!

Limsophy is however industry-neutral and suitable for all companies that would like to make the most of the data from R&D and analytics.
