DSM Selects Omnexus Technology for New Online Materials and Application Database

DSM Engineering Plastics has chosen technology from Omnexus to power an enhanced materials and application database as a key part of its online strategy, both companies announced today. The new database, set to launch mid-November, will let DSM customers search and compare from among the company's full set of material property data and integrated applications through the DSM Web site at www.dsmep.com.

The DSM Materials and Applications Database will provide their customers an immediate online connection point with DSM to instantly view and compare a complete, up-to-date selection of material data according to the customer's individual needs and specifications. In addition, the product database will be fully functional in English, German and Chinese, thereby serving the company's key markets in North America, Europe and Asia. The Omnexus-hosted solution will also feature an integrated applications database allowing users to search by industry segment and polymer type to view photos and data sheets from DSM material applications.

The DSM Materials and Applications Database will offer users two intuitive search tools that can be used together or separately to conduct research:

1. A material data search function to find quick answers on polymer properties, with comprehensive data to conduct side-by-side comparisons.

2. An applications database that lets customers search by Industry Segment, Material Type, and Product Name.

The technology for the DSM Materials and Applications database was developed earlier this year through an alliance combining the best-in-class Web hosting capability of Omnexus with the more than 15 years of experience by M-Base developing software specifically for plastics applications. Founded in 1993, M-Base develops material database systems and design software that is highly specialized to the company's core competence of material information.
