Eka Chemicals Increases Hydrogen Peroxide Capacity

06.02.2004
Akzo Nobel's Pulp & Paper Chemicals business, Eka Chemicals, is to increase production capacity for hydrogen peroxide at its plants in Bohus and Alby in Sweden. The decision to increase capacity has been prompted by growing demand in the Nordic pulp industry for hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent. The rise in demand is primarily due to higher production of bleached mechanical pulp. The expansion means that the Eka Chemicals plants will increase capacity by around 15,000 tons per annum, with minor investments, step by step, over a period of two years. The increase will be achieved by de-bottlenecking and the installation of new process technology developed by Eka.
